Labor Day Weekend is kind of a big deal in the Toczylowski Family.
It marks the annual Huck Memorial Horseshoe Tournament.
I believe this year marked the 28th Annual.
On the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend about 60 men descend upon my in laws house at 11:30am.
The picking of teams commences at 12pm sharp, after which the brackets are determined and set.
Immediately following the first 2 games begin.
The championship game is played around 7pm.
So, folks, that is approximately 7 hours of non stop horseshoe playing. (Not to mention the "hydrating" that takes place before, during and after games.
It is a fantastic time.
This year, there was one little boy that wanted to take part in the tournament. Unfortunately he didn't meet the age requirement (freshman in HS seems to be the guideline used). He plead his case all day to play.
He asked please.
He whined a bit.
He stood and watched patiently while saying
I wait my tuhrn, Mommy.
And after each game you would hear
My tuhrn?????
We set up a small, plastic set for him to play with.
This did not fool him for a second.
He wanted to play with the GUYS. He wanted to play with DADDY.
He pleaded and pleaded until, around 4pm, Daddy caved.
During a very quick break of play (while the GUYS were trying to figure out who was playing next), the little boy got his shot.
He banged his 2 horseshoes together (like the GUYS do) and played his little heart out.
It looks like the newest Toczylowski Boy has been sucked into the Annual Huck Memorial Horseshoe Tournament.
