This is our life lately.
HOCKEY. FOOTBALL. SOCCER. TENNIS. BASKETBALL. (as seen in February's post!)
Mostly Hockey.
The boy is obsessed. He wears socks on his hands for hockey gloves and winter boots as his hockey skates.
He wears a hat as his hockey helmet.
He needs the "B" side of his hockey puck facing up.
He gets mad if he loses.
Like, REALLY MAD.
He likes to rotate playing goalie and scorer.
He doesn't like playing by himself.
So Tom or I get roped into playing.
Every Day.
We use "no hockey today" as punishment.
Punishment for being fresh, or hitting at school, or refusing to sleep at night.
It seems to work.
That is how much the boy loves hockey.
Other things the boy is up to these days....
Refusing to sleep.
Taking an hour to two hours to go to sleep at night.
Waking up every 3 hours after going to sleep.
Calling me his "best friend" multiple times a day.
Hugging and Kissing me for no reason at all.
Fiercely independent. In that he wants to cook his own food, cut his food, butter his toast, etc.
Using the potty like a champ - no more diapers! WOOT WOOT!
Hitting his friends at school.
Lacking patience - refusing to finish a task.
Forgetting how to speak in a proper tone and reverting to WHINING.
About everything.
All of the time.
Loving on 'baby brother' something fierce.
Hugging my belly.
Yelling "HIII!!!!" to baby brother.
Laying on the couch trying to feel baby brother kick.
Commenting that "baby brother is playing with is toys in there".
Overall, the boy is simply amazing. We take the good with the bad. We are learning as we go. We are trying to break some bad habits (read: watching TV while eating dinner, refusing to eat vegetables, watching TV in "daddy's bed" before bedtime) and replace with better habits (dinner as a family, eating veggies (and maybe meat!!), books before bed).
We are trying to correct behavior without raising our voices (read: screaming out of shear frustration and exhaustion).
We are trying to be consistent in our parenting.
And we are simply soaking up every minute we have as a family of 3.
Other things we have been up to in March:
A trip up to MA to visit Nan and Gramps:
Handy Manny joined us for the ride.
"Mommy, I sit here and wait for Tara to go to lunch."
Lunch at Michael's - Gosh I love Newburyport!
Dinner at the Roma - someone loves "the chefer!".
Basketball at Nana's with Emily and Sarah (um...feels like yesterday I was playing with the little ones out back!).
Exhausted from all the basketball playing!
Being a silly, silly boy one night after school....
Hanging with his "buddy Gabin" at Pete and Colleen's
Having a sleepover with Sarah and John (he is still asking for your guys to come back over and play more hockey!!).
Loving spending time with Grandmom and Cousin Julianna. (How will she fit 3 in her lap?!)
