My little Lukie -
You weighed in at 23 lbs at your 9 month check up. That places you in the 85 percentile (down from the 95!). You are a very tall boy - coming in at 30 inches - staying in the 95 percentile (which is just fine with us...you are going to be a tall boy - hopefully your body will catch up to your "mitt" hands!
You still take your shots like a champ - only a little whimper. At this check up they also tested your iron, which meant a pin prick to your finger. You were definitely more mad that the nurse was holding your finger than the actual prick itself...and your iron was perfect.
Months 9 and 10 have found your CRUISING everywhere...this is apparently what is known as walking along the furniture (or anything you can pull yourself up on....sometimes it is furniture, other times it is mommy or daddy's legs...). You are so close to walking. You try to let go and stand on your own. Your mind thinks it can do it...your body just needs to catch on!
You are so curious. Any bump, squeak or crack you need to look and find out what is going on.
You LOVE people. Restaurants are by far your favorite place. You sit in your high chair, left arm draped around the back, neck turned, left foot up on the seat, and you just stare at everyone and take it all in. You laugh with the table next to us, your wave at the waitresses, you smile at people that stop and comment on how stinking cute you are. You LOVE the attention. You are quite the little flirt.
Just last week we went to one of our favorite Jenkintown spots - West Ave. The table next to us recognized you from one of our other dinner trips out. I think you recognized them too. You smiled at them both, and waved, and put on quite the little show. Talking, squealing, smiling. It was hysterical.
You got your first TOOTH!! We spotted it for the first time last Saturday. There are 3-4 more ready to pop through. We think this may be why your sleep has been so off lately.
You WAVE. And we think you know what it means now. Just this morning you would wave at daddy whenever he started to leave the room. We are having a lot of fun with this.
You are experimenting with food. You LOVE bananas. We order them for you at every restaurant we can. I dice them up in small pieces but you end up grabbing an entire handful and shoving them all in your mouth anyway. You are a great chewer. A very careful eater. You love Gerber sweet potatoes but hate fresh. You still aren't a big fan of avocado. Your favorite foods are still puffs, baby mum mum rice cakes, and bananas.
You have your own language. As you play with a toy, moving it from hand to hand, trying to figure it out, you babble. You say "eh, eh, eh" and make the best curious face. Then you will look up at us and start laughing or saying "mum mum mum mum" or "ra ra ra ra." You talk your "talk" constantly.
You have been a big momma's boy the last couple of months. And I LOVE it. Although it is hard sometimes....you cry every time I leave the room. Leaving in the morning is heart breaking. You reach for me whenever you can and just want to snuggle. You will be playing with a toy, see me, crawl over to me, then on to my lap, then give me a big hug. I hope this part of the momma stage lasts forever.
You are the sweetest, happiest and funniest baby we have ever met. We feel so lucky that you are ours. We love you Little Lukie!
