WE DID IT!

Well, we are homeowners.  It's been 1 week and 2 days.  We have been sleeping in the house for 2 nights and all of our essentials are moved in.  (And a lot of our STUFF is still at our old house - which is the weekend project...which I am dreading.)

This is all things scary, exhilarating, exciting, and terrifying all in one.

We LOVE the new house.  It is so perfect for us.

The house is in great condition and only needs some minor fixes - new garage door, new kitchen (it is functional just not the way I want it yet - we will be doing some quick fixes until we are ready for a full renovation - once daycare payments go away!) and some personal touches.

We decided to do a minor kitchen update to hold me over until we can renovate.  My mother in law is ridiculously handy and painted each cabinet for me and replaced the knobs and hinges to give them a quick update.  We also plan on adding a cheap "peel and stick" backsplash.

We painted the boys room a nice grey/blue and decided to leave all the other rooms the original neutral paint colors for now.

Here are some renovation before/afters:

Kitchen BEFORE

The old knobs look like they are from the '70s and the Formica is a "faux white wood" finish.  GROSS.

and AFTER!

Still not perfect - but SO MUCH better than the 70's style!

And we also have added some decor in certain areas.  I purchased a runner for the hallway and we set up our entry way furniture:

And a new sofa and rug for the living room.  We plan on hanging the TV on the wall, but for now it is on an extra table.  We can't live without TV in this house!

And the dining room.  this is our first real dining room table and I LOVE it (even though it is only IKEA - rule is really nice furniture will be purchased when the boys are in high school!).

Luke approves of the new tub...I wish it were white instead of pink...perhaps another project down the road.

And our first glass of wine at the new house.  This was at 11pm on the night we moved in - the first time we had sat all day! We have obviously not unpacked the wine glasses.

We are SO EXCITED to welcome our first overnight guest tomorrow - MOM! My project for this afternoon is to set up the guest room.  We can't wait for our chef/maid/nanny and most amazing mother to arrive and spend an entire week with us!!
